I have been a resident of the City of Joy for the last three years. Over this time period I have visited a number of places across Bengal and come to know a lot about Bengali culture. Our journey by the Amaravathi Express was an exciting one indeed. As we passed through the hills, valleys and hamlets dotted the landscape, I could relate them to the writings of Nirad C. Chaudhuri. We reached Goa the next day, during the late hours of the morning. Our hotel was located in Calangute which has one of the most popular beaches of Goa.

The following day, we went out to visit the Calangute beach which was located at a short distance from our hotel. Surrounded by palm and coconut trees, the beach covers an area of four miles along the Arabian Sea. The cool sea breeze with the view of the azure sea water striking the beach helped us to get over the tensions of our day to day lives. The sense of serenity which Calangute offered to us as simply unmatchable.
Baga Beach
The Baga beach is one of the most picturesque locations of north Goa. This beach is well known for the wide number of shacks and fishing boats. We spent our free time boating here. It is also popular for a wide range of water sports such as parasailing and banana rides. The dolphin cruises here also attract a large number of visitors. After spending an half at the beach, we proceeded for Fort Aguada.

Fort Aguada was one of the major military outposts of the Portuguese in Goa. It acted as a bulwark against Dutch and Maratha invasions. Located at the confluence of the Mandovi river and Arabian Sea, the fort is more than four hundred years old. The tower here was used to witness enemy movements around the vicinity of the fort. One of the lasting legacies of Portuguese presence in India, the fort also has a fresh water spring which used to offer its inhabitants with fresh supply of water. We couldn’t get our return tickets while coming to Goa. But thankfully, due to tatkal seat availability, we could go back to Kolkata safely on time. The journey provided us with the much-needed freshness of mind we were looking for. It also widened our perceptions about life in general as well. Many times it happens that we travel many far cities, but we miss out visiting places that are nearby us. The same thing happened with me too. Being so much near to Agra also I was not able to visit the place from Delhi.
But finally, I decided to visit Agra this time to visit various monuments and hence made all the preparations from train ticket booking to hotel room booking and many others in advance.

The train runs in between Firozpur Cantt Junction till Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The train arrived at our station New Delhi by 4:45 p.m. and left at 5:15 pm, almost after half an hour. We reached Agra Cantt the very same day at about 8:30 pm.
Stay at Agra
I made sure that I booked my hotel rooms in advance so that I do not have to search for hotels after reaching the place. So, as I came out from the Agra station, I got a cab and reached Hotel Vanshika Palace, where my room was booked in advance. It was located at a distance of just threekm from the railway station and was about 6 km from the Kheria airport in Agra.
The hotel was a 2-star property and featured both AC as well as NonAC rooms. The comfortable rooms were well very much complimented with various other facilities such as free internet, excellent room service, restaurant and many others.

My main motto to visit Agra was to visit various monuments in Agra. Though there are many to explore, due to a shortage of time, I selected the most famous ones at this time.
Taj Mahal: Who is not aware of Taj Mahal? The seventh wonder of the world looks even more beautiful in real that in the pictures. Touching the white marble and walking on the floor was a lifetime experience. Of course, we clicked a few pictures at the bench kept just in front of the monument.

Fatehpur Sikri: Fatehpur Sikri is mainly a small town that is located just west of Agra. The city has some great monuments to visit such as the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal and Diwan-e-Khas. We had to spend one whole day in Fatehpur Sikri, and we loved it.

Planning a holiday trip always excites me a lot. A holiday is just like mode of rejuvenation to me. Maintaining family and coping up with their needs every day are not so simple for a woman. Whatever, the deity of luck smiled upon me last year in December, and we had set off for a family holiday to Hyderabad.
It was the first family holiday after my marriage with my husband and in-laws. Every single moment of the holiday remains green in my memory lane till date. I had enjoyed a lot during the trip. I took my father and mother on this trip.

I had a wish to ride in Rajdhani Express, but I never got a chance to fulfill my wish. Somehow my husband came to know my wish, and he booked tickets for the Rajdhani Express in first class AC from Bangalore to Hyderabad. We had to reach KSR Bangalore City Junction station at least before 45 mins from the train departure time.
The departure time of Rajdhani Express was 8:20 PM and we reached the station at 7:30 PM. It was not very difficult to find out our berth with the help of TC. The train had departed from Bangalore at the right time, and we had reached at Secunderabad Junctions in the next morning at 7:35 AM. The journey was very comfortable, and we all had a free meal on the train.
We had to travel at least forty Kms from Secunderabad station to reach our hotel destination. So, we had already booked a cab via online transportation booking service and the cab was waiting for us outside the station. We already had the number of the cab, so we tracked down our cab easily.

After having lunch, we all went to the hotel Premier Floor for relaxation and fun. We planned to holiday for ten days. So, we had enough time to visit the tourist attraction places in Hyderabad.
On the First day of our arrival, we took a rest in our hotel rooms and enjoyed delicious lunch and dinner with family. The rest of these days, we had to set off in every morning to explore historical places like Golkonda, Salar Jung Museum, Makkah Masjid, Nehru Zoological Park, Charminar and more places.

Travelling in a Superfast express is indeed a grand experience- especially if you get to travel to a beautiful city like Mysore. Mysore has always been a source of fascination for me, especially for its amazing history. The royal, as well as the colonial history and architecture of this city, has always fascinated me as a writer.
The Shatabdi Express (12007) is a very comfortable train for an intercity trip. It starts from Chennai in the early morning at around 6 am. I had to board the train from Bangalore around 11 am. The train reached at Mysore around 1 pm as scheduled. I had chosen AC Chair car for my journey and it proved to be very comfortable.

The first glimpse of my hotel mesmerized me with its amazing architecture. The Fortune JP Palace is a 4-star hotel which showcases the palatial architecture of Mysore. This hotel is located in Abba Road Nazarbad, about 2 km away from the Mysore palace. This hotel is also well-connected with the rest of the city. Along with all luxuries like the swimming pool, wellness center, and Spa, I liked the excellent view of the surrounding Chamundi Hills.
